Playroom

Playroom

In the Playroom we aim to provide a secure and creative environment which nurtures individual and family learning.

What is the playroom about?

Our child centered environment encourages emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development of children. At Acorn Family Place Playroom, we see children as active participants in their own learning. We believe children’s best learning happens while they play. Our teachers collaborate with the children as they explore, solve problems, ask questions and create. Playroom staff offer activities, toys, and experiences that reflect children’s interests and needs. Through these interactions we foster curiosity, growth, and mastery of new skills.

How does it work?

Families are welcome to drop in with their young children (ages 12 weeks to 6 years). The Playroom can be a place where parents can engage with their children and other families. It can also be a safe place for children to be while families attend programming, grab a coffee, or use the computer. Parents must remain on site and are responsible for toileting and feeding their children, unless respite has been arranged.

What is respite?

From September to June, parents whose kids (aged one to six) have already spent time in the Playroom can pre-arrange for their children to spend a maximum of one morning or afternoon a week in the Playroom, while their parent is off-site. Respite spots are limited, and subject to availability.

When can we come?

The Playroom is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am-12pm and 1-4pm

Wednesdays from 1-4pm

For more information, call the Playroom staff at 204-560-3151 to learn more.
