Our Practices

Our Practices

Empowerment

Wolseley Family Place recognizes that everyone has an important and unique part to play within the community and society. The programs and services are designed to facilitate growth of the individual through the enhancement of their skills.

Multi-Serviced

Wolseley Family Place has a broad range of services and programs that address the needs of children and their families in the community. These services fall into three broad areas:

  • Education
  • Support
  • Community Links

Population Health

Health is determined by the complex interactions between the individual, community and society. Wolseley Family Place strives to address the important health determinants:

  • Biology/Genetics
  • Social Supports
  • Education
  • Culture
  • Healthy Child Development
  • Healthy Services
  • Income/Status
  • Gender
  • Personal Practices
  • Income/Status
  • Physical Environments
  • Social Development

To provide families with equitable opportunities to reach their fullest potential.
To reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect.
To develop programs that improve the health of families and their children.

Community Based

Wolseley Family Place is a voluntary drop-in program which relies on the participants for direction and guidance. The Centre is community-based within the active area of West Broadway, and has many partnerships within and outside of this community.

The program and service initiatives of Wolseley Family Place are facilitated and implemented to the needs of the families and children.

WFP continues to maintain it’s commitment to training and learning experiences for students, such as the Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Social Work, Faculty of Human Ecology, Catherine Booth College, and Red River College, Early Child Education…

…If you are here to help me, then you are wasting your time, but if you are here because your liberation is bound up in mine then let us begin.” -Lilla Watson…
