Early Childhood Educator Assistant
Wolseley Family Place is a multi-service family resource centre providing support, enhancing education, and fostering community. We work together to strengthen children and families on the challenging journey of living and growing.
Term: June 22 – August 31 2020
Hours: up to 40 hours/ week 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday (part-time hours may be considered)
Hourly Wage Rate: $11.65/ hour plus 4% vacation
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Be aware of the safety of each child
- Organize and maintain a clean and safe environment
- Prepare snacks
- Provide spontaneous play and learning through solitary or group activities according to the child’s abilities and interests
- Engage children and infants in playtime
- Foster positive self-awareness and a sense of belonging
- Work with children to solve conflicts using problem solving strategies
- Model positive and respectful adult-child interactions
- Maintain positive communication with parents
- Support alternate activity planning in accordance with the Manitoba public health directives Work cooperatively and respectfully as a member of the interdisciplinary WFP team
- Communicate effectively within the Playroom team
- Attend monthly Playroom staff meetings
- Give input to the Playroom staff meetings based on observations of children in the room
- Be aware of supplies required for activities
Qualifications:
- Ready and able to enjoy the outside with children and families in all weather
- Ability to speak English required, additional languages an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills, punctuality a requirement
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances
- Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds
- Classification as a Child Care Assistant from EL&CC
- Clear criminal record and child abuse registry check – cost can be covered by WFP
- Emergency First Aid and CPR up-to-date

Community Liaison Worker/ Family Program Coordinator

Term: June 22 – August 31 2020 (possibility to extend beyond)
Hours: 28 weeks – flexible within 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday
Hourly Wage Rate: $12.50/ hour plus 4% vacation
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Summer Program and Activity Planning
- Plan and organize new outdoor programming for families with young children
- Find creative ways to deliver outdoor group outings and activities for safe family summer fun
- Lead outdoor activities for participants and their families, as part of a team
- Keep up-to-date registrations and records of attendance for all programming
- Use online meeting platforms and file sharing
- Support alternate activity planning in accordance with the Manitoba public health directives
- Daily childcare in licenced Nursery – occasional support as needed
- Be aware of the safety of each child
- Organize and maintain a clean and safe environment
