Donation

Acorn Family Place is grateful for the support of our community and will happily accept donations – both financial donations and donated items.

Financial donations can be made on our website homepage (click “Donate Now” at the top) or by cash, cheque, or e-transfer. We can issue charitable tax receipts for donations – make sure to include your full name and address if you want a receipt.

We also happily accept your new or gently used items that we can pass along to the families at our center.

The following is a list of the items that we frequently need

Baby/Toddler Supplies:
  • Diapers (especially sizes 4, 5 & 6)
  • Formula
  • Wipes
  • Strollers
  • High Chairs
  • Cribs
  • Nursing Pads/Nipple cream
  • Breast Pump/ Breastfeeding Supplies
  • Bottle Liners
Hygiene & Menstrual Products (new):
  • Menstrual products
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste
  • Soap, shower gel
  • Lotion
  • Shampoo, conditioner
  • Deodorant
  • Shaving Supplies
  • Lip balm
  • Brush/Comb

Clothing and footwear (new or gently used and clean: all sizes and genders)

Unfortunately, there are some donated items that we don’t have the capacity to accept, such as furniture and used toiletries. For donations that we accept but do not get used (e.g. out-of-season clothing), we may pass it along to another partner non-profit organization.

Here are some suggestions of where to donate the things that Acorn Family Place can’t accept:

Up Shoppe

Arts Junktion

Clothing and textile recycling

Thrive Thrift Shop

Flavie-Laurent Centre

For suggestions of other organizations that accept donations, give us a call at 204-560-3141.

Thank you for your support of families in our community!

Awesome news!!! Susan will be continuing to offer free reflexology treatments at the centre until the end of June! If you are interested drop by today between 1-3pm.Reflexology is a holistic treatment like a kind of massage which can be done on the hands or feet. It is good for relaxation, circulation and all parts of the body. A gentler touch is used for people with heart conditions, diabetes or who are pre or post-surgery. The only caution is for women in their first trimester of pregnancy, in which case, one area of the foot is not worked on. Otherwise, there are no negative side effects. The only things one might experience are for example, extra sneezing, sweating or passing gas - all ways the body expels toxins. An average treatment lasts about half an hour. There is no need to register beforehand, just put your name on the signup sheet the day of.For more information contact Linda:wellnessoutreach@acornfamilyplace.ca or (204) 979-2833 ...
